Echoes

One: Mental: His feelings for orcs: That he hates them and considers them less than "people".

For the first time, he gave in to a patron telling him how awesome a Viking he would be in a larp and tagged along with the person after a crash course in regulations and a few visits to the training gatherings of the patron's group. It was a rather large fantasy larp, so there were all kinds of stock fantasy races there. The final battle included a good number of orc NPCs... which did not go over well. Crossing his axe with one of them, Þórir suddenly echoed Thorin's feelings for this race... which resulted in him getting a bit carried away with the fight. A few other men had to drag him out of it, and he got a year's ban from fighting in any larps that that organization made. He made sure to apologize formally to everyone involved, no bad blood was had and the ban will soon be up (though he does not intend to go to any events that might include orcs again), but he still hasn't figured out why he suddenly harbours such hatred against a fictional race...

Two: Mental: The memory of going hungry and even starving, and of those that he cares about and those that he should take care of going hungry/starving as well, along with a feeling of anger towards the cause of this (though he doesn't know what the cause is) and guilt coupled with the wish to fix the situation.

Filbert being audibly hungry while they prepare food echoed with similar occasions when Kíli and Fíli were younger, before Durin's folk had recovered economically past the point of harsh winters or bad harvests in the area endangering their livelihood.

Three (2; January): Mental: Common knowledge about the eagles: their size and alignment (free/good/allies) and that they could speak. Secondly, the memory of hearing hundreds or thousands of voices shouting "The eagles! The eagles are coming!" and halting in the middle of a battlefield, in the middle of a battle, to look up at the sky (though he won't know anything about the battle itself or remember details about those around him, or his own weaponry/armor, etc).

Talking to Torin, a sentient, talking bird.

Four: Mental: Getting lost in the Shire. Twice. This includes a general memory of the Shire (from the eyes of someone lost and unfamiliar with the place).

Encountering the term "Bag End" for the first time, which is the place that he was headed to when he got lost in the Shire at the beginning of AUJ.

Five: Mental: (headcanon!) His mother's death, without any context to explain what he just saw: Running on a high bridge without a rail with two other children near him, a voice behind urging them to run; the voice staying behind but him and the other two continuing to run until they enter a tunnel, where he turns around. His vision zooms in on a bearded adult behind them who has fallen and is just getting up again. The memory of two pairs of hands grabbing on to him as he screams something in a language that he doesn't understand, and fire blasting over the bridge, burning those on it alive, among them said bearded adult.

Killian telling him that his mother was killed violently.

Six: Mental: The knowledge that the scene from echo Five was set inside a mountain called the Lonely Mountain, thus that there was "fire inside(!) the mountain (singular!)".

Gabriel telling him about "fire over the mountains" connected with battle, directly after Thorir told him about his last memory echo.

Seven: Mental: Lindir's face when confronted with dwarf antics in Rivendell, specifically the dinner and fountain parts. here and ctrl+f for "As they walk and talk, they encounter" and "The Dwarves grow restless with the formal Elven music", the pictures above them - Lindir is the guy in blue-purple-ish.

Talking about Rivendell with Gabriel and Eliot, with special notion to there being lots of water.

Eight: Mental: Knowledge of the medical properties of kingsfoil/athelas.

Seeing the plant for the first time.

Nine (2; February): Physical and item: Thorin's singing voice, which sounded a lot nicer than Thorir's. Thorin's golden harp, complete with the green wrapping cloak.

Hearing the Misty Mountains song, in this case sung by Killian.

Ten: Mental: That his name was Thorin, son of Thráin, son of Thrór.

Hearing talking about current names resembling pre-incarnation names. The only difference between his current and pre-incarnation names is that an r and an n was shifted around, and an accent was added.

Eleven: Mental: A memory of looking out over a landscape and someone saying: “Erebor—The Lonely Mountain. The last of the great dwarf kingdoms of Middle-earth.” and "Thorir" adding: “Our home.”

Killian calling the Lonely Mountain "Erebor".

Twelve: Mental: The alternative name "Kingsfoil" for athelas coupled with the feeling that that is the name that he wants to use.

Julien talking about athelas.

Thirteen: Mental: The tendency to think of his nephews as an unit - not an absolute thing, it can be overridden by other matters, but it's the default.

Discussing Fíli and Kíli being close and an unit with the nephews, particularly this comment by Killian.

Fourteen: Mental: Reading and writing (Tolkien) dwarf runes.

The nephews teaching him dwarf runes.

Fifteen: Mental: A small part of this conversation/speech: Thorin's first part and Bard's first answer to it. The memory of the scene is complete with words, surroundings from Thorin's viewpoint and Thorin's general and specific feelings for the humans that he speaks to in this scene - the master and the people of Dale, as well as Bard.

Discussing attitudes towards humans as another race with Julien, especially the description of "[The apostle's attitude towards humans was] Kind of condescending, maybe, but he doesn't hate humans or really fear them."

Sixteen: Physical: The ability to fight with shield and sword.

Eliot calling him Thorin Oakenshield. The byname stems from a fight where he used a sword and a piece of an oak as a makeshift shield.

Seventeen: Mental: A brief overview of the company visiting Rivendell: The names of all dwarven members of the company, the knowledge that Bilbo was with them and that Gandalf was sometimes with them. (most of this the cast has already pieced together).

Eliot mentioning that there were 13 dwarves in the group visiting Rivendell.

Eighteen: Item: The Arkenstone.

Killian giving him the name.

Nineteen (Tier 2; March): Mental: 1) That he was the eldest of three: Himself, Frerin and Dís, with the others being a few years and over a decade younger. A mental image of the two of them eating together with him, so like, a happy memory of a peaceful activity from the eyes of Thorin. 2) A shift of what he finds attractive in women from modern day human preferences to third age dwarven preferences.

Hearing that Fíli's and Kíli's mother was Dís.

Twenty (2; Event): Physical: Dwarven stamina and durability.

Proximity to Wise Snake/Event echo (Season 1 Finale).

Twenty-one: Mental: The complete memory of Smaug's attack on the Lonely mountain up until it was clear that the elves had left the dwarves to their fate.

His home settlement getting attacked by a big reptile/serpent type being, complete with people dying and I assume also fires and such due to the structural damages. (Season 1 Finale)

Twenty-two: Physical: DWARF HEIGHT. He'll be slowly shrinking back to Thorin's height, 149cm. At first it will be very slow, 0.5cm a day, but it might speed up later on. He will not lose in weight/width/muscle mass/etc, just get shorter while keeping diameter and everything else.

Someone being easily two heads taller than him. Thorir's 2m. That hasn't really happened to him before.

Twenty-three: Item: Orcrist.

Seeing Gabriel's sword, which was also forged in Gondolin.

Twenty-four: Mental: Khuzdul.

Teaching Killian Icelandic, and Killian suddenly replying in Khuzdul.

Twenty-five: Physical: Fighting with a sword as a single weapon.

Fighting Karl with only a sword (eventually).

Twenty-six: Item: His oaken "shield".

Being (partly) disarmed in what resembles a battle situation and almost killed (though accidentally in this case) after having been disarmed.

Twenty-seven: Mental: A complete memory of the battle of Azanulbizar, though he lacks all context for the battle.

Sparring/fighting in a situation where there are a lot of people around who are sparring/fighting with blades as well.

Twenty-eight: Ability: Fighting with an axe.

Sparring with an axe.

Twenty-nine: Mental: His title was "King under the mountain".

Daniel telling him of a "King of the mountain".

Thirty: Ability: Blacksmithing at Thorin's level.

The pink light over Las Vegas.

Thirty-one (tier 2; May): Memory: a) This scene, including Thorin's feelings about it (that he feels that they are true and is scared of going mad himself, and wants to do anything to fend off that madness but isn't sure if he can in the end).
b) The knowledge of what Gandalf is referring to when speaking about Thorin's father's and grandfather's madness, aka I. how his grandfather went away and into Moria and get himself killed, and what that led to (the war between orcs and dwarves, and that Azanulbizar (which he already remembers) was the final battle of that war) II. that his father left for the Erebor and got lost on the way, never to return.

Being asked if his father is the cause for madness in him, and answering that his father's madness does not mean his own. There is also a connection of unrest and madness here.

Thirty-two: Ability: Half of Thorin's ability with the instrument - like someone who had learned how to play the harp for maybe two years.

Trying to play the harp that he pulsed back.

Thirty-three (Tier 2; July): Mental and item: The memory of this scene and the clothes that he is wearing in it.

Killian telling him that Kíli hid his injury from Thorin, and Thorir's reaction being very similar to Thorin's when he discovered the same (which is the lead-up to the scene that the echoed memory covers): A strong disapproval of a lack of responsibility that this hiding meant to him.

Thirty-four: Mental: He already remembers flashes of Dwalin in battle, and he'll now remember why he remembers so much of him in battle: Dwalin was his right-hand-dwarf (which didn't mean that he was constantly around him or that he was necessarily his adviser, but he was his right-hand-dwarf). And that part of this position was that he got into fights with people at Thorin's side and afterwards looked a bit beaten up (while surviving stuff without much injury that would have felled others).

Seeing Hjalti in hospital after he got beaten up by the mafia and talking with him about how he battled them.

Thirty-five: Mental: A part of Thorin's personality, specifically the part where he in 90% of the cases really doesn't see a point with being polite by hiding his disapproval/contempt/etc and the like. He'll still be able to, he'll just be much less likely to see a reason for doing it.

Seeing a ghost-like presence (plot echo)

Thirty-six: Physical: Thorin's tattoos: this and this.

Learning that Hjalti removed/tattoed over the mjolnir-tattoo that they and their siblings got together as a sibling thing, and realizing just how much that meant to him (he's never really thought much about what it means to him before, it was just something that he had and his siblings had too).

Thirty-seven: Mental: An extension of echo 15: Thorir now shares Thorin's feelings on humans.

Deeply doubting the non-numbered as a whole (mostly their ability to be reasoned with and be reasonable).

Thirty-eight: Mental: Thorin's drive to reclaim the Lonely Mountain.

Forcefully claiming the Lonely Mountain as "his" for the first time.

Thirty-nine: Mental: The memory of this scene from Thorin (guy in blue)'s POV, including Thorin's feelings (surprise and disapproval) of the scene. The scene takes place in the throne room.

Seeing the throne room in the Lonely Mountain & the throne (sans Arkenstone) for the first time

Fourty: Mental: Thorin's distrust of others because they might take his mountain that with the echo below will get amped up by a thousand into a serious issue.

Talking about betrayal aka talking with Julien about Numbered being used in case the surface people find the colony in the mountain.

Fourty-one (2; December): Mental: Everything that happened between emerging from the mountain to fight with Dain's troops to getting up on the mountain, seeing Fil die and finally the fight with Azog and his own death.

In the middle of a fight using an injury to himself (a modified mafia goon sinking his jaw into his side) to kill the goon.

Fourty-two: Mental: Dragon sickness.

When Thorin encountered all the gold inside the mountain, he rapidly fell into this mental illness, that basically makes him unable to think positively about anything but the treasure hoard to the point of even discounting human and dwarven lives for it; since this is an echo, Thorir echoed the full load of it the moment he saw the gold hoard inside the Erebor, so there wasn't even a slowly falling into it.

Fourty-tree (2; Plot echo): Physical: His eyes glow in the dark, and he has night vision.

Pink light over Lapland.

Fourty-four: Memory: The memory of is exchange with Bilbo about the acorn, which is roughly the only sane moment that he has in the movie after catching full blown goldsickness and before he gets himself out of it.

A respite from gold sickness with Gabriel: Sitting down for food and for a moment discussing the lights.

Fourty-five: Memory: Thorin's conversation with Dwalin while Thorin was heavily goldsick.

Yelling at Julien to get out of his eyes while goldsick due to being unsure if he'll hurt him if Julien stays.

Fourty-six (2;January): Getting out of the goldsickness and the memory of his conversation with Kili and the other dwarves after returning to them.

Fil trying to talk him out of the goldsickness.
